Winnie Mae Gray Sweat was born May 12, 1925 in Selmer, TN, the daughter of the late Lee Andrew Gray and Lillie Deborah McKenzie Sweat.
She was united in marriage to Charles W. Sweat on December 27, 1941. Mr. Sweat preceded her in death on January 28, 2010.
Mrs. Sweat was a member of the First Baptist Church in Selmer, Tennessee for over 60 years. She was an active member of the Vota Vita Sunday School Class. She was very active in the community with different organizations such as; serving as a teacher for Mother’s Day Out and serving as property manager for many rentals. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mrs. Sweat departed this life on July 28, 2015 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 2 Months, 16 Days.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Sweat; a son, Kenneth Sweat and wife Sandra; a sister, Genell Freeman all of Selmer, TN; four grandchildren: Michelle Biggs and husband Jeremy, Emily Conley, Scott Sweat, Kevin Sweat and wife Lora Lee; and ten great grandchildren, Shelby Sweat, Cameron Sweat, Abbie Sweat, Allison Sweat, Blake Sweat, Hannah Conley, Mia Conley, Chase Conley, Chloe Biggs, Jackson Biggs.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sweat was preceded in death by four sisters: Addillia Ashe, Verlene Moss, Demovia Wolfe; and a brother, L.A. Gray.
