Ida-Virginia-Victoria-Washburn-1437059204Ida Virginia Victoria Pounders Washburn, age 92, of Tuscumbia, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends Saturday, 12:30 – 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary with Rev. Rudy Guess officiating. Burial will be in Shoals Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Washburn was a native of Haleyville, AL. She attended Haleyville High School and Snead Jr. College. She worked summers in the Winston County AAA office and Uncle Tom Batchelor’s Cotton Gin. She also worked for TVA during WWII. She was employed with the Colbert County School System for twenty-four years and was a member of the Pilot Club, Homemaker’s Club, UMW and was a Girl Scout Leader. Giving her life to Jesus at a young age, she was first a member at Highland Methodist Church in Haleyville, then Wesley Memorial UMC. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tuscumbia where she attended Robert Hudson Sunday School Class and served on the Administrative Board. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-eight years, Gilbert Washburn; her parents, Fletcher Henderson and Lillie Belle Batchelor Pounders; her sisters, Hazel Thomas, Mabel McNutt and Evelenia Crow and son-in-law, David Cook.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbra Stevens ( Scott) of Charleston, SC, Sandra Honey (David), Linda Cutshall (Euel), both of Tuscumbia; grandchildren, Josh Honey (Cindy),Cheri Grimmitt (Ged), Kevin Cook (Jenn), all of Tuscumbia, Kim Williams (Clay) of Muscle Shoals, Chris Cutshall (Lindsay), Jeffrey Cutshall (Amanda) both of Birmingham, Alan Cook of Atlanta, GA and Rebekah Melton (Corey) of Charleston, SC; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Abby Honey, Christian and Belle Williams, Megan, Lauren, Sierra and Kristen Cook, Lilly and Christopher Cutshall, Noah and Lucy Grimmitt, William and Sarah Austin Cutshall and Zoey Melton. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Jo Lyle and Bettye McNutt (L.V.), both of Haleyville; brother-in-law, Everett Washburn of Social Circle, GA, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Washburn’s caregivers: Tannie Johnson, Paula Brown, Rose Johnson, April Softley with Brother’s Keeper; Dana Holt, Shirley Daniel, Denise Burbank, David Rushlow, Debbie Collum, Deb McCoy, Dr. Webb, Dr. Anjum with Hospice of the Shoals; Dr. Pounders, Paul McGuire, Robert Padron, Pat Borden, Martha Polk, Kim Williams.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia.
