ASPCA_MoultonAL_July2015BIZ_3362MOULTON-The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPC) moved more than 300 dogs and cats from the Lawrence County Animal Shelter on  July 3 and 4.

Many of the animals were sick and in need of medical attention.  The pets have been housed and are  their medical needs are being addressed.  The next step for the animals will begin when the ASPCA behavior team enacts an enrichment and socialization program.  According to ASPCA officials this step will be helpful in placing the animals while giving them the enrichment they need.

Many of the animals were emaciated and suffered from numerous medical issues. Some were housed in small wire crates and others in crowded enclosures where they fought for resources. ASPCA experts are continuing to collect and analyze forensic evidence and provide legal support for the criminal case.

The ASPCA is assisting the Moulton Police Department help pet owners file claims for lost pets through a dedicated email address. If you believe one of the rescued pets is yours email aspca_animal_rescue@aspca.org. You may also call 256.974.3961 and ask to file a report.

The ASPCA is asking for help from the public….they are in need of puppy pads and pine shavings for the animals.  Also donations of Gatorade and bottled water for the workers would be appreciated.  Donations can be dropped off at the Moulton Police Station located at 720 Seminary Street in Moulton.

We have two galleries of photos provided by the ASPCA.  The first gallery is photos of the pets before they were transported to to the new holding shelter.  The second set of photos are of the pets being transported and in their tempory home.
