ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a report on an arrest made of a suspect in a Possession Of A Controlled Substance crime.   here is Police Chief Johnson’s statement:

“Michael Earl Benefield was arrested yesterday for attempting to commit a controlled substance crime and possession of a forged instrument 2nd degree. Butler attempted to obtain Methadone from Athens Pharmacy using a forged prescription. The pharmacist was suspicious of the prescription and called the doctor’s office to verify it being correct. The doctor’s office said the prescription was forged and Benefield wasn’t there patient. Butler transported to the police department for booking and transferred to the county jail.”
