ATHENS-The second man involved  kayaking accident that happened  on Saturday evening, July 4th in Athens on Summit Lake has died.

Calindo Cassavette Fletcher, Jr., 20  a Buckhorn graduate,died Monday, July 6 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Fletcher was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville on Saturday night after the accident. He died shortly after 1pm according to hospital officials.

Fletcher, swam to help a man, Buddy Wayne Johns, 37, who tipped over in a kayak three times  according to Holly Hollman, Athens spokesperson.  Fletcher tried to help but was also overcome and drowned.

Firefighters got  both men out of  the water and performed CPR. Both were rushed to Athens Limestone Hospital where Johnson was pronounced dead.
