ATHENS-The Athens Police made an arrests on Monday, June 22 and another arrest today, June 23.
Here is how Police Chief Floyd Johnson describe the arrests:
“In May the police department received a complaint about a personal check that had been stolen in the mail, the amount altered and then cashed. The victim told officers he mailed a check to a local business. The business never received the check however the check was cashed at a local bank. Lategra Chantaye Love was developed as a suspect in the case. Investigator Jonathan Caldwell located a driver’s license photo of Love and compared it to the banks video
system. He then obtained a warrant for Love for Criminal Possession of a forged instrument 2nd degree. Love was arrested yesterday afternoon on the warrant. She was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.
Johnda Nelms was arrested this morning at Wal-Mart for attempting to take 551.00 of meat. She was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”
