Calvin “Les” Hooker – Obituary

Calvin Leslie Hooker passed away after a short illness on May 31, 2015 in Saint Petersburg, Florida with his sons by his side. He was born in Wenasoga, Alcorn County, MS on January 23, 1920 to the late Dewitt Hooker and Isola Campbell Hooker. He served in the Engineering Corp in Europe in World War II and was involved in all the major battles there. After the war he married Mary Frances Floyd of Danville, MS and later moved to Memphis, TN to work for Ford Motor Company and then moved to Amherst, Ohio in 1958. He worked for Ford for over thirty years in Memphis, Lorain and Avon Lake, OH. After retirement he moved to Dallas, TX in 1989 with his second wife. In 2014 he relocated to Saint Petersburg, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Frances, his parents Dewitt and Isola, his sisters Doreen, Aileen and Deoma and his brothers Odell, Marcus and Kelsey. He is survived by his stepson Sherrill (Mary Ann) Hudson of Coral Gables, FL; his sons Larry (Frank) Hooker of Saint Petersburg, FL and Jerry (Cindy) Hooker of South Amherst, OH; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Forrest Memorial Park, Corinth, MS on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 11 AM. Magnolia Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
