Two Arrested In Athens Over Weekend…Fraud And Chemical Endangerment

ATHENS-Athens Police Department issued warrants on two suspects for Chemical Endangerment of two children on Thursday, May 21.  The Athens Police also arrested one suspect on Friday, May 22 for Fraudulent Use of a Debit or Credit Card.  Here is what Chief Johnson has to say about the two cases:

“Sgt. Johnny Campbell was notified byDHR of child that was born on April 6, 2015 that tested positive for THC. On April 9, 2015 the mother’s other child which is 3 years old was also drug tested. The 3-year-old results were positive for Marijuana and Cocaine. On April 14, 2015 the children’s mother ValerieWitchard tested positive for marijuana and on April 25 the father tested positive for Marijuana and Cocaine. On May 21, 2015 Sgt. Campbell obtained warrants on both Valerie and TyroneWitchard for Chemical Endangerment of a child. Friday afternoon Officer Kirk

Wimberly arrested Tyrone Witchard on the warrant. He was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail. Valerie Witchard has not been arrested at this time.”

“Tremayne Deveris Smith was arrested Friday afternoon on a warrant for Fraudulent Use of a Debit or Credit Card. Smith used a debit card on May 14, 2015 without the knowledge or permission of the owner of the card. The card was used at Jiffy’s on Market Street. Smith was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”
