Welfare Check On Minor Children Results In Arrests

MORGAN COUNTY-Morgan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a welfare check on the welfare of 2 minor children and discovered an occupant of the home was buying cold medicine and reselling it to meth cookers.  Here is what the Morgan county Sheriff’s Office says about the result of the welfare check:

“On Tuesday, May 19th, 2015, Morgan County Drug Task Force Agents went to 318 Bluff City Rd. Lot E-3 in reference to a welfare check on children. Agents had obtained information that there was possible drug use in the residence. Agents made contact with Leann Cassidy Hersey, 26, and Andrew Vaughan, 33. Agents discovered that Ms. Hersey had been buying cold medicine containing pseudoephedrine and selling it to methamphetamine cooks in the area. Ms. Hersey admitted to doing this several times

within the past month. Agents arrested Ms. Hersey for Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance 2nd. Morgan County DHR was called to the scene and was attempting to place the children in foster care when Mr. Vaughan became agitated. Mr. Vaughan was then arrested for Obstruction of a Governmental Operation.
DHR placed the children ages 2 and 7 mo in foster care. Ms. Hersey and Mr. Vaughan were transported to the Morgan County Jail. Ms. Hersey remains in jail with a bond set at $100,000.00 per Judge Howell. Mr. Vaughan was transported to Morgan County Jail with a bond set at $300.00.
