Scavenger hunt promotes tourism in Colbert County

colbert county tourism featuredTUSCUMBIA– Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau is encouraging Shoals residents and visitors to take photographs of local attractions and create some special memories during National Travel and Tourism Week.

The bureau’s theme for National Travel and Tourism Week, May 2-10, is facebook_like_logo_1“Travel is Making Special Memories.” As part of the observance, the local tourism bureau is having a digital scavenger hunt on its Colbert Tourism Facebook page. Beginning Saturday, May 2, photographs from two attractions in Colbert County will be posted on the Facebook unnamed (4)page each day through Sunday, May 10. Everyone who correctly identifies on Facebook where both photographs were taken will be entered into a daily drawing for prizes including T-shirts and free admission to local attractions. Everyone who posts a photograph of themselves at either of the attractions featured each day will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize that includes admissions to local attractions and lunch for up to four people.

Convention Bureau, said the digital scavenger hunt is a great way to promote the many interesting places to see and things to do in the county. “We have so many wonderful attractions in our county. We have attractions related to our music heritage, historic homes, our lakes, hiking trails and other places to enjoy the outdoors… There’s never a shortage of places to visit and things to do in Colbert County.”
