TUSCUMBIA – R. E. Thompson held an Outdoor Classroom Day last Friday. Alabama Wildlife Federation folks, volunteers, parents and teachers were on hand to help the students learn more about their environment. They figured that the most effective way to teach was a hands-on day of working in the soil at the campus to build their own outdoor classroom.

Heather Johnson a teacher involved with the classroom submitted these photos of some of the projects in the Outdoor Classroom:

Throughout the Outdoor Classroom Day, the students and volunteers worked side-by-side to create a living laboratory. The lab was designed with a variety of “outdoor learning stations” where the students will be able to participate in hands-on activities.

The Quad-Cities Daily was on hand to capture the day in EVENT PHOTOS, and we present them here. If you find a photo that you like, make yourself a print from the large images. Enjoy!
