MentalHealth-sTHE SHOALS-A town hall meeting to discuss funding cuts for the Alabama Department of Mental Health will be held on Monday, May 4th, at 6:30 in the evening at Riverbend Center for Mental Health.  All concerned citizens are invited. These cuts threaten the very existence of programs which have helped thousands for many years.

Proposed budget cuts will affect services provided by: The Arc of the Shoals, Riverbend smalllogoCenter for Mental Health, and SCOPE 310.

Persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses could lose vital treatment and/or services such as supervised homes, personal care, employment training and services at Hope Haven’s Adult Training Center and rblogothe Conner Center.

Services which allow successful community living for personswith intellectual disabilities, serious mental illnesses, emotionally disturbed children and adolescents and people with substance abuse diagnoses could be impacted or eliminated by these cuts.SmCOR5SL

The loss in services will place a burden on families, law-enforcement officials, hospitals, and the community at large.

We urge all concerned Shoals Citizens, legislators, and members of city and county government to attend the meeting.
