TUSCUMBIA – The 34th annual Helen Keller Festival had a great start Thursday with a parade and street party in downtown.

The parade was led by a color guard, Mayor Bill Shoemaker, and Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan, along with many Police Officers and Tuscumbia Firefighters. The Deshler High School Marching Band performed, along with many local organizations.

Festival organizers estimated the crowd at over 3,000 participants.

This year’s festival coincides with Tuscumbia’s “Third Thursday” downtown arts & crafts show. There was lots of music, lots of cotton candy and kettle corn, and all kinds of fun things to see and do.
