Trry-Boatwright-1428509905John Terry Boatwright, 68 of Opelika, the Auburn area, formerly of Arab died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Hospice of Marshall County, Shepherd’s Cove, Albertville.

Mr. Boatwright was born January 23, 1947 in Jefferson County, the son of Otis L. and Ila J. Speer Boatwright. He was a graduate of Albertville High School, Class of 1965 and a 1978 graduate of Auburn University. He had lived in Opelika, the Auburn area for the past 2 years and was a member of Oplika First Baptist Church. He had also served in the U. S. Army Reserve for 24 years.

Terry was also a civil engineer working in the Huntsville, Decatur area for most of his life. He also served bi-vocationally as a minister of youth and music at several Marshall County churches. His passion in life was music, especially his church choir; cheering for his Alma Mater’s football team, War Eagle and spending time with his family, especially the grand kids who were the light of his life. He was known for his many practical jokes, quick wit and passion for cooking.

Today he is singing with a choir of angels at the feet of his Savior. We mourn over our loss but we rejoice in knowing that he is experiencing true life and joy for all of eternity.

He is survived by the children’s mother: Barbara Ann Boatwright; two sons and daughters-in-law: Chris and Meredyth Boatwright and Brent and Leigh Boatwright; three grandchildren: Mark, Isabel and Aubrey Boatwright and two cousins: Norman and Ronnie Speer.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Dr. Aaron Johnson, officiating with eulogy by Brent Boatwright. Burial will be in Sweet Home Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

Pallbearers will be John Arthur, Jamie Glass, Nathan Glass, Roger Glass, Kenny Peacock and Chris Stewart.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
