Eugene Lee Digby – Obituary

Bro. Eugene Lee Digby, 89, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the Meadows. He was born August 7, 1925, in Itawamba County to Walter Lee and Lucille Chamblee Digby. He was a Baptist minister for 64 years holding many funerals, weddings, and revivals. He was founder and minister of Christ for the Crisis radio and TV ministry for 58 years. He was pastor for a number of churches in North Mississippi and North Alabama and was presently serving as pastor of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church near Red Bay, AL. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was voted the Itawamba County Good Citizen in 1972. An avid traveler, he had visited the Holy Land and all 50 states and especially loved going to the Smoky Mountains.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, at the First Baptist Church in Fulton with Bro. Casey Hughes, Bro. Kenny Digby, and Danny Digby officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Digby (Kathy) of Fulton and Kenny Digby (Becky) of Corinth; four grandsons, Jason Digby (Susanne), Stan Digby (Stephanie), Bailey Digby, and Kaleb Digby; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Chloe Digby.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Ellen Digby; one sister, Jane Moore; one grandson, Austin Digby; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Moore Digby.

Pallbearers will be Jason Digby, Stan Digby, Bailey Digby, Kaleb Digby, Jordan Digby, Lloyd Digby, Gary Digby, and Larry Digby.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bro. Digby’s memory to Christ for the Crisis, P.O. Box 6, Fulton, MS 38843.
