Maulta Hurt Sutton – Obituary

Mrs. Maulta Hurt Sutton, 101 years, 11 months of Waynesboro died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation in Florence. She was born April 19, 1913 in Typo, (Perry County) KY, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Hurt and Nannie Belle Hensley. She was married to Millard Sutton, Jr. on March 31, 1930 and he preceded her in death November 1, 1996. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by daughters, Thelma Elsner and Barbara Ann Copous, one grandson, Stacy Lee Elsner, and son-in-law, Ted Elsner, sisters, Eliza, Hester, Viola, Bertha, Mallie, Lenora, Helen, and one brother, Jackie.

She lived a wonderful life. She was a homemaker that enjoyed camping, gardening, canning, quilting, and watching wrestling. She always wore a smile. Grandma loved her family so much and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a son-in-law, Billy (B.J.) Copous of Waynesboro, TN, grandchildren, Kim Morgan of Sheffield, AL, Billy Copous Jr. of Nashville, TN, Cheri Salenik, Norman Elsner, and Joey Elsner all of Michigan, Daniel Elsner of Florida, Loretta Nichols of New York, several great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro. Interment will follow in Collinwood Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Sunday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
