SHEFFIELD-Catfish anglers from throughout the South and Midwest are coming to Sheffield later this month for what is being billed as a monsterfest of catfishing.
The Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail returns to Pickwick and Wilson lakes for a catfish tournament Saturday, March 28. Many of the nation’s top catfish anglers will compete in the tournament that is sponsored by the City of Sheffield.

Convention Bureau said Pickwick and Wilson lakes are among the favorite places of catfish anglers nationwide who are looking for a place to catch huge fish.
At many lakes, anglers consider a catfish that weigh 25 pounds a big fish. At Pickwick and Wilson lakes, 25-pound fish are common and anglers are disappointed if they fail to catch at least one blue catfish that weighs more than 50 pounds.
Darrell Van Vactor, CEO of the King Cabelas-Tournament-Logo-400x293Kat tournament series, said Pickwick and Wilson lakes are known around the world as being the home of huge catfish.
Registration is underway for the tournament. Anglers can fish either lake and launch their boat from any ramp. Tournament hours are from 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The weigh-in will be at Riverfront Park in Sheffield. The host hotel is Jameson Inn in Sheffield.
