MONTGOMERY-On February 26, 2015, Ms. Julie P. Magee, Commissioner of Revenue, issued an order granting an extension
for motor vehicle registrations and renewals due to be issued in February 2015. The extension was granted
due to courthouses and tax collection offices being closed due to inclement weather in the state. The
extension is granted through March 6, 2015.
Please be advised that both penalty and interest is being waived for motor vehicle registrations, renewals, and
ad valorem tax payments on motor vehicles through March 6, 2015.
William Smith the Lauderdale County License Commissioner states, “It is important for the public to remember that while the penalty and interest for February tag renewals is waived through March 6, 2015, an individual may still be stopped and ticketed for driving on an expired tag if their tag expires at the end of February and they are driving in March.”
