SHEFFIELD – Jennifer Lynn Wicker, 31, is still in jail awaiting a decision on charges by the Colbert County District Attorney’s Office.
Wicker was arrested Wednesday evening at Sheffield’s Regal Inn on Jackson Highway. The hotel management called in a complaint alleging that Wicker was going room-to-room trying to score some crack cocaine. and she was reportedly doing this as the weather was quickly deteriorating into the area wide snow event.
When police arrived at the scene a little after 7 pm, they say that they found Wicker on the hotel property with her 3-week old baby in tow in a stroller. According to the police report, hotel residents informed police that Wicker had been at the hotel several times in the week, each time soliciting drugs. On this evening, a Sheffield Police Officer attended to the infant by changing his dirty diaper.
The baby was placed in the custody of Alabama DHR, and Wicker was arrested.
Police Chief Greg Ray told the Quad-Cities Daily that Wicker is being held until a determination of charges is completed by the District Attorney’s Office.
