Clifton Gilbert “ Cliff” Farris – Obituary

Clifton Gilbert “ Cliff” Farris , 89, died Sunday,February 8, 2015 at the Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born October 5, 1925 in Itawamba County to James Harvey and Jessie Eula Nabors Farris. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corp for three years during World War II. In 1994, he was personally invited back on the 50 year anniversary of the Second Marine Corp liberation of Saipan, as a special guest of the Governor for the Americans. He retired in 1991 from Mueller Brass Industries. He was a member of East Fulton Baptist Church and the Fulton Masonic Lodge #444. He was an avid deer hunter.

Services, with Masonic Rites, will be at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday at the McNeece – Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Grover Laird officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Odean Stevens Farris; one son, Michael DeWayne Farris (Kathy) of Pearl,MS; one daughter, Linda Farris Pounders (Kenneth) of New Albany; five grandchildren, Dustin Pounders ( Terri), Kimberly Thompson (Eddie), Heather Westerfield (Matt), Steven Farris (Ashley), and Jennifer Farris; nine great grandchildren, Sidney , Jackson , Nathan and Leah Paige Pounders, Sarah Kate Thompson, Seth Cooper Thompson, Laura Westerfield, and Charley and Reese Farris.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin, Roy, and J.R. Farris; five sisters, Ruby Davis, Ruth Fears, Beulah Fears, Ressie Thompson, and Alice Hargett; two great grandsons, Matthew Carson Pounders and Patrick Michael Farris; and his parents. Pallbearers will be the Masons.

Visitation will be from Noon until service time Tuesday at McNeece – Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
