February…A Month Of Love And Music In Colbert County

Numerous concerts and other events will help celebrate the rich musical heritage of the area.

Tourism and Convention Bureau, said the many events this month feature several genre of music and multiple venues. “Anyone who enjoys good music is going to love February in Colbert County.”
The first concert is Saturday, Feb. 7 at Cypress Moon Productions, 1000 Alabama Ave., Sheffield. Jackson Highway has two shows, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance. A special evening of choral gospel music, celebrating Black History Month, is Sunday, Feb. 8 at Muscle Shoals High School, 1900 Avalon Ave, Muscle Shoals. The 5 p.m. concert, presented by Alabama Music Hall of Fame, features The Gospel Imperials and Shaun Moore and friends of Huntsville, Aaron Freeman, St. Paul Gospel Choir of Russellville, the Rev. Jerry Reeves and Galilee Missionary Baptist Church of Leighton Choir, and the Southside Church of Christ Choir of Rogersville.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $8 for seniors, $4 for students and free for children 5 and younger. Tickets are available at the Music Hall of Fame, 617 Highway 72, Tuscumbia, or by calling 256-381-4417.heart-music
Restaurants and night spots around the county will feature local and regional musicians on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, Feb. 14. Contact Colbert County Tourism at 256-383-0783 for details.
The Alabama Music Hall of Fame will kick off a series of monthly concerts Tuesday, Feb. 17. The series, known as Third Tuesdays, will feature live music and a brown bag lunch from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the lobby of the Hall of Fame. Kerry Gilbert and Hugh Banks will be featured at the February concert. Admission is free. Seating will be provided.

Dixie Griffin, manager of the Hall of Fame, said the concert series will feature local musicians.
“The musicians will bring their own special touch of musical accompaniment and local lore to each session. Not often do you get the chance to hear the real, raw vocals, guitar picking’ and piano playing from the folks who still carry on the “Shoals Sound” that the area is famous for all over the world,” Griffin said.
The Cains Trio will perform at the Music Hall of Fame, at 7p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Hall of Fame or by calling 256-383-4417.

Band, New Home, Iron Horse, and the Gary Waldrep Band is Saturday, Feb. 21 at Ritz Theater, 111 Third St., Sheffield.
The festival begins at noon with a bluegrass harmony singing workshop, music 1-5 p.m., a screening of the PBS documentary Bluegrass in Alabama: a Conversation with Jake Landers at 5 p.m. and more music 6-10 p.m. For tickets and more information, call 256-383-0533.
