Betty Sue Dexter – Obituary

Betty Sue Dexter, 88, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at her son’s residence. She graduated from Iuka High School, and then attended MSCW. In 1945 she married W.T. Dexter. She ran the Tax Assessor’s Office, Tax Collector’s Office, and Sherriff’s Office for 8 years with her husband in the years from 1948 through 1956. After that she moved from Iuka when her husband answered the call to preach. She was her husband’s help mate in the ministry for 32 years before moving back to Iuka where they retired. She was a Godly mother, and Godly lady that touched hundreds of lives while on her stay on this Earth. Her first love was her church, and she was a devout member. She cared not for worldly fame, she cared only for the world to know who was utmost in her life, and that was her God. She will be missed, but she won’t be forgotten. Visitation is scheduled for 11 AM until 1 PM on Saturday, January 31 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Rev. Bob Rambo and Rev. Kerry Powell. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Harold Booth, Charlie Cutshall, Chris Daugherty, Steve Nelson, Charles Sweeney, and Todd Williams. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include 1 son – Stanley Dexter (Pat) of Iuka; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. Dexter; and her parents, Presley and Sadie Nixon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Iuka United Methodist Church Fund.
