bannedThere are many laws set up in different countries that prohibit women from doing certain things in society. We may find some of them weird since in our countries women enjoy full rights just like their fellow men. Some of these laws have been imposed by extremist governments while some date back years ago but have never been changed or eliminated and make very little sense in the world today. Take a look at some of the weird laws that exist around the world:

1. Women need permission from their husbands to wear false teeth in Vermont.
2. In Florida, widowed or single women are not allowed to parachute jump on Sundays.
3. Saudi women are not allowed to drive.  According to a report by Academics from one of the highest religious councils in Saudi Arabia, allowing women to drive would “provoke a surge in prostitution, pornography, homosexuality and divorce”.

4. All females in Saudi should have a male guardian. They are forbidden from conducting any official business, travelling or undergoing some procedures without permission from a male guardian.

5. Iranian women banned from watching the world cup.

6. A woman is considered half a witness in Yemen. A woman is not “recognized as a full person before the court.” In general, a single woman’s testimony isn’t taken seriously unless it’s backed by a man’s testimony or concerns a place or situation where a man would not be. And women can’t testify at all in cases of adultery, libel, theft or sodomy.”

7. Women have no voting rights in Vatican City. This is also the case in Saudi Arabia although a royal decree that was issued in 2011, will allow women to vote in 2015.

8. Women in Afghanistan were prohibited by the Taliban from working outside their homes, studying in school and wearing shoes that made noise while they walked.

9. In Whitesville Delaware, a woman cannot propose marriage to a man.

10. Women were banned from going shopping in a village known as Asara in 2012 if they were under the age of 40, also the village prohibited girls from using mobile phones on the streets.
