visitors, Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau has a cure.
Susann Hamlin, executive director of the tourism bureau, said visiting attractions around the county is a great way to fend off cabin fever.
“By the Saturday after Christmas, a lot of the people will be looking for something to do besides going shopping or staying at home and watching football on TV,” Hamlin said. “Visitors to our community will be ready to see some our attractions.”
Two of the most popular attractions, Ivy Green and Alabama Music Hall of Fame, both in Tuscumbia, will reopen after the Christmas break on Saturday. Ivy Green will be open from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p .m. The Music Hall of Fame is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
For outdoors enthusiasts, Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve is open every day, including Christmas. The nature preserve at 251 Loop Road, ivy greenTuscumbia, a sanctuary for rare plants and animals, features 11 miles of hiking trails.

coondogHamlin said hiking is a great way to work off some holiday weight gain.

The hiking trails on the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Muscle Shoals Reservation and along the Natchez Trace Parkway are also open daily this week.
Two more popular attractions are the navigation lock at Wilson Dam, which is open to visitors from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and Key Underwood Memorial Coon Dog Graveyard, 4945 Coon Dog Cemetery Rd., Cherokee, which is open every day.
