Irene Jones Owen died Dec. 19, 2014, at the age of 90.
Visitation will be at Spry-Williams Funeral Chapel, 1950 Helton Drive, Florence, Ala., on Monday, Dec. 22, from noon to 1 p.m. The graveside Service will be at 1:30 p.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, 2601 Florence Blvd. (Hwy. 72), officiated by her nephew, the Rev. Rick Owen.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Irene was the wife of the late Wallace E. Owen, Jr. She was a native of Lawrence County, Tenn., but lived most of her life in Lauderdale County.
Irene was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, first at Saint James Methodist Church in Florence and then at Killen United Methodist in Killen, Ala.
She moved to Pelham, Ala., several years ago. The most important thing in her life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband of 57 years were her parents, Doug and Bessie Jones, and brother, Herbert D. Jones.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Owen (Teresa), of Pelham, Ala., Dennis Owen, of Lakewood, Colo., grandson, Jason Owen (Louise), of Berkeley, Calif., great-grandchildren, Oliver, Simon and Lily Owen, of Berkeley, Calif.; sister, Tera Adomyetz, of Killen, Ala.; sister-in-law, Norma Owen, of Vestavia Hills, Ala., Peggy Killen Jones, of Florence, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Killen United Methodist building fund.
