Here is how Shoals Area Families describe what they strive to:

“Shoals Area Families was formed to assist local families with a
bill, to give them a way to give back, and to train them with a
new skill that will hopefully break the cycle of poverty.
We aren’t giving them free money. All the families we help are
required to join our “give back program”. For every $100 we pay
in bills, they are required to volunteer two hours at our thrift
store. As we work with the families, we get to know them—hear
their story. We find that about 95 percent of them do not have a
GED. Shoals Area Families writes goals to be completed that
will change their lives in a positive direction. Once they
complete their program, they are asked to go out and help
another person.

One person at a time
over the poverty line.

Unfortunately, poverty is not going away. But imagine being a
part of something that can change a person’s life. We do it daily.
You can see where your donations go:
our local community .”

The Shoals Chamber was on hand to assist with the festivities and to capture the moment in photos.  We present them to you here:
