LEXINGTON-Rumors were circulating last week about budget woes for the town of Lexington’s Senior Center are not true according to town officials.  here is the statement from the town of Lexington:

“The following statement is the official Public Information Release
from the Town of Lexington, regarding it’s Senior Services and Center.

To manage further unwarranted or exaggerated criticism directed toward
the Town of Lexington, we feel it is necessary to publish the following statement.

It has not been or will be the desire of the governing body of the Town of Lexington to disband the Senior Center, interfere with, how or when members gather, raise money, schedule functions or conduct day to day affairs. The only decision was to discontinue the nutrition program due to an inability to provide funding. How ever we are currently working with State Officials, to help provide temporary and permanent solutions and readjust, as all other small Town’s in our region we have economic struggles and we do our best to maintain equal and the best services to the citizens of Lexington.

This is the sole change to Senior Services offered by the Town of Lexington, please remember that we value or senior citizens as heroes, role models, keepers of our most precious memories and most important as our loved ones. We would never take a position to deliberately place hardship or injustice on our seniors.

Thank You,

The Town of Lexington”
