thelmaThelma Lucille Hunt, of Tuscumbia, was welcomed into Heaven by her parents and siblings on Thursday, November 13, 2014. Left here on earth to grieve her passing is her husband, Bob Hunt; daughter, Tracy Garmer (Bill) of San Diego, California; son, Bobby Hunt of Tuscumbia, Alabama; sister, Betty Aycock (Harold); sister-in-law, Doris Lowery; grandchildren, Caitlyn and Justin Garmer and many other family and friends. Please join us for a reception to celebrate Thelma’s life on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Spry~Williams Funeral Home of Florence. Thelma’s passing has left a huge hole in our family. Thelma married Bob in 1959 and during their 55 years together, lived in California, Mississippi, Texas and Alabama. As most married couples, they lived through good times and bad – but remained devoted to each other and deeply in love. After moving to California, they adopted Tracy and Bobby. Thelma was a devoted mother who protected and nurtured her children. She sacrificed much for her family and, as adults, we recognize, appreciate and love her for her caring and giving nature. Thelma’s grandchildren, Caitlyn and Justin, were the shining stars in her life from the moment they were born. She had a special bond with both and will be remembered as the “cool” grandmother who played video games with them, made mud pies and told the best stories about her childhood. Thelma’s family, known as “Aunt Thel” to her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, will be remembered as the sister/aunt who made beautiful doll clothes and Christmas gifts – sent with love from California each year. While saying goodbye to Thelma is the hardest thing any of us have ever had to do, we know there is an angel watching over and guiding us. So run, leap and enjoy Heaven, where you are no longer in pain, but know you are missed more than anything. A special thanks to Amedysis Hospice and Kristen, for their loving and compassionate care during her illness. One of Thelma’s greatest passions in life was reading. In-lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thelma’s name to your local library, the Salvation Army or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
