Kathleen “Peggy” Bevis – Obituary

Kathleen “Peggy” Bevis, 91, of Florence passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at her residence. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon at Elkins with burial in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Ken Chapman and Steven Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband Owen “Doc” Bevis. Her parents, four sisters and two brothers. Peggy was the only living sibling in her family.

Peggy is survived by her children, Larry O. Bevis (Kaye) and Linda B. Quigley. Granddaughters; Lara Muck (Tom) and Carrie Roberson (Chris). Grandson; Barry Bevis. Great-Grandchildren; Meghan Raney, Gavin Raney, Everett Roberson, Elton Roberson, Tom Muck Jr. (Kandice) Erica Clounch (Will) and Jackson Muck. Great Great Grandchild Shelby Muck, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be David Winborn, Jamie Cox, Tim Rikard, John Finley, Jimmy Bevis, Tom Muck and Chris Roberson.

Peggy Bevis was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved and cherished her family and friends. She was a woman of strong faith, a love of God and His word. She taught her family values, shared her great wisdom and was an example for hard work, strength and morals. She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Eastwood and Helton Drive Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with family. She will be missed but her spirit and wisdom will carry on.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or Wilson High School “J.A.G.” scholarship fund.
