jwJ.W. King, Jr. 74, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on October 27 after his brave 27 year battle with Heart Disease. He was a graduate of Butler High School and the Huntsville Police Academy where he served in Patrol, Traffic and Detective Division and retired as an Investigator. He was a member of Epworth Methodist Church, The Fraternal Order of Police, where he served on local and state boards, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he was a past State President. He was a veteran of the US Army and was active in past years in the Huntsville Jaycees and the NW YMCA Youth Sports Leagues. He was preceded in death by his parents: James & Mildred King and daughter: Darla Scott. Survivors include his wife: Judy Quillin King; son: Jay King; daughter: Cherie (Lewis) Hagman; brothers: Dickie (Pattie) King and Jack King; sister: Denise (Bobby) Quinn; nieces, nephews and hundreds of FOP and Eagle brothers and sisters. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by a Chapel service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with full Police Department honors.
