Traffic Stop Results in Arrest on Trafficking A Controlled Substance Charges

mar 2DECATUR-Decatur Police made an arrest of two  on charges of Trafficking A Controlled Substance and Several Traffic Violation.  Here is how the Decatur Police describe events:

“On October 22, 2014, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit were patrolling in the area of Glenn St SW. Officer Kitchens conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Danville Rd and Cedar St SW for traffic violations (Switched Tag and No Turn Signal).

During the course of the investigation, the passenger was identified as Brandon Lamar Gladney and the driver was identified as Destiny Nicole Reed. During the investigation, Gladney was found to be in the possession of a quantity of Synthetic Cannabinoids (Spice), Marijuana, drug sale paraphernalia, and a large amount of U.S. currency. Gladney began to struggle with Officers as they were attempting to place him under arrest. Officers were able to restrain Gladney and place him under arrest.

It was discovered that Reed had two active warrants through the city of Decatur. Reed was placed under arrest for the warrants. Both subjects were then transported to the Decatur City Jail where they were each processed in.

Gladney was charged with Trafficking in Synthetic Controlled Substances, Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Delivery or Sale, and Resisting Arrest. Gladney will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $8,500.00 bond. Officer Kitchens seized the large amount of U.S. currency pending condemnation procedures.

Reed was charged with two misdemeanor warrants of Harassment, Switched Tag, Turn Signals Required, and Driving While Revoked. Reed will remain in the Decatur City Jail in lieu of a $2,500.00 bond.”
