Ruel A. Brooks – Obituary

Ruel A. Brooks, 81, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at the Tupelo Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born September 13, 1933, in Itawamba County to Charles Preston and Hattie Bell Palmer Brooks. He went to Center Star Church in his earlier years and was a member of Fawn Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He retired as an inspector from FMC in Saltillo in 1995. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He enjoyed welding. He loved being outdoors and watching NBA games.

Services will be at 1 p. m. Friday, October 24, at the McNeece – Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Curtis Shelton and Bro. Billy West officiating. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Hudson Brooks; two sons, Mike Brooks and Perry Brooks (Amy); one daughter, Cindi Brooks; three grandchildren; one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Harold Brooks and Jerrell Lee Brooks; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Brooks and Ruby Lofton Brooks Goodwin; and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Steve Brooks, Scotty Brooks, Harvey Brooks, Jeffrey Byrd, Tommy Rogers, Tom McNinch.

Honorary pallbearer will be J.T. Knight.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 23, at McNeece – Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
