Cleta Mae Walker – Obituary

Cleta Mae Walker, 88, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at the Sanctuary Hospice House. A lifelong resident of Itawamba County, she was born December 28, 1925, to Rex and Jewel Senter Dulaney. She retired after 41 years of service at Blue Bell. She was a long-time member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, which her family helped establish in the late 1800s. She was one of the first spelling bee winners in Itawamba County. She loved her family and her four-legged companions, Hogan and Ellie. She enjoyed gardening and reading.

Services will be at 2 p. m. Thursday, October 2, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Bill Adams and Bro. Grover Laird officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Survivors include her only daughter, Deborah Walker, of Spring Hill, TN; Steve Bowles, who was like a son to her; two brothers, Tom Dulaney of Holly Springs and Gene Dulaney (Dot) of Mantachie; two sisters, Ethelene Lesley of Mantachie and Frances Christian of Fulton; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, R. C. “Bill” Walker; two infant daughters, Dianne and Gena; two sisters, Opal Wallace and Edith Davidson; and her parents.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Lesley, Brock Dulaney, Bobby Barnes, Bobby Walker, Stephen Moore, James Moore, and Andy Tyra.

The family would like to send special thanks to the staff at Sanctuary Hospice House and Mrs. Walker’s many friends and family.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Wednesday, October 1, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House or American Diabetes Association.
