Christine Cozart Walls – Obituary

christineChristine Cozart Walls, 84, retired employee of Tennessee Farm Bureau, resident of Decatur and former longtime resident of Columbia, died Saturday, September 27, 2014.

A private graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at Polk Memorial Gardens with Pastor Todd Evans. The family will visit with friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

The Marshall County native was the daughter of the late Claudie Neal Cozart and Lottie Veal Laffoon. She was married to Newt “Junior” Walls who preceded her in death on September 27, 1992. She was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Walls enjoyed traveling. She was a member of Westmeade Baptist Church and encouraged others through her card ministry. She was affectionately known as “The Card Lady.” She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Decatur Senior Center and Ladies’ Auxiliary of Eagles.

Survivors include her sons, Bobby (Wanda) Walls of Woodbury and Michael (Pat) Walls of Decatur; grandchildren, Scott (Dana) Walls, Joey (Sandy) Walls, Jonathan (Mindy) Walls, Cindy Sweeney; six great- grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter; sisters, Helen Zauder of Denver, Colorado, Wanda Kubeck of Highland, Indiana, Faye Kukula of Lewisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Scott Walls, Joey Walls, Jonathan Walls, Michael Sweeney, Sven Jorgensen, Neal Leet, Carson Walls and Donald Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. James Pruitt, Frank Lindsey, Cleve Walls and Vance Potts.
