Betty Jean Ponder, 81, of Huntsville passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at her residence. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church for the past 34 years. She is survived by her husband Troy Ponder, daughter, Myra Ponder McCrary; four granddaughters Caroline McCrary, Susanne McCrary, Sallie McCrary and Mary Kate McCrary; brother James Richard Hames and three sisters Virginia Gunn, Sybil Langston and Linda Edwards.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. For those who would like to make contributions, they may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
