ATHENS-The highly anticipated Athens City Cemetery Stroll is slated for Sunday, September 21st from 2:00PM-5:00PM amid the historic tombstones and obelisk.
Enjoy a leisurely stroll of your own pace and choosing of Athens City Cemetery on Hobbs Street as the spirits come alive to recount tales of their lives in Athens-Limestone County. From Civil War soldiers to Founding Fathers to Ladies of Manor – you never know who you’ll bump into or which spirits may come to visit on this very special occasion.
Over 40 locals will be dressed in period costumes portraying both the famous and the infamous of Limestone County, with many being direct descendants. This is a free event; however donations collected will go to restoring broken markers within the cemetery.
Guest will be provided a map and list of character/actors to learn about during this event. Light refreshments will also be available at the
The event is presented by Thomas H. Hobbs Camp of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and the Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association.
Local authors will also be available with their books on Limestone County history to offer for sale & a book-signing will be held after the event.
