Steven Lee Norton
DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department responded to a Domestic Violence call. One was arrested and both parties were transported to the hospital. Here is how the Decatur Police describe the events leading up to the arrest of one:
SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
“On September 14, 2014 at 1:07 am, Morgan County Central Dispatch received a call of a Domestic Violence at the American Inn located at 2617 HWY 31 S Decatur, Morgan County, AL.
Officers with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the scene. Officers located the victim 22 year old Skyler Cannon who was suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Cannon was involved in a physical altercation with his roommate 21 year old Steven Lee Norton. During the altercation Norton stabbed Cannon in the chest and back. When dispatch was notified Norton fled the scene on foot.
Ofc. Zachary Blanton located Norton hiding nearby. Norton was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication. Norton had a self inflicted stab wound to his hand that was caused during the altercation with Cannon.
Both Cannon and Norton were transported by ambulance to Decatur Morgan Hospital where they were treated for their injuries. Cannon was later released and is expected to make a full recovery. Norton was released and transported to the Decatur Police Department.
Det. Joshua Fisher of the Violent Crimes Unit was notified and responded to the scene.
As a result of the investigation Norton was placed under arrest for Domestic Violence 2nd Degree. Norton was escorted to the Decatur City Jail where he was charged and booked in for Domestic Violence 2nd Degree and Public Intoxication. Norton was transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $5,500.00 bond.”
