Joe Read Hagerman – Obituary

Funeral service for Joe Read Hagerman, 95, of Decatur will be Saturday September 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Marvin McCormick officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Vahalla Cemetery in Birmingham. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Hagerman died Monday September 8, 2014, at his residence. He was born May 22, 1919, in Jefferson County to Louis Harrison Hagerman and Eula Lu Godwin Hagerman. Mr. Hagerman received his mechanical engineering degree from the University of Alabama and was an engineer working on the B-29 bombers during World War II. He lived in Spain and Brazil for many years. He retired from Monsanto as a mechanical engineer and was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Decatur.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Partrich Hagerman; son, Bob (Brenda) Hagerman of Morrison, CO; two grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Hagerman of Furlong, PA, and Holly Hagerman of Mission Viejo, CA; and two great-grandchildren, Chase Hagerman and Kian Hagerman, both of Furlong, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Alabama in Joe Hagerman’s name.
