Harry Wayne "Grandad" McNeeceMr. Harry Wayne “Granddad” McNeece, age 80, of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee passed away at his home following an extended illness.

Wayne was born on January 17, 1934 to the late William Arthur and Alice Boyd McNeece in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. He served honorably in the United States Army. He was married to Shirley Ford McNeece on October 15, 1955, having 59 loving years together. He was retired from AT&T having worked in telecommunications from 1956-1986 including Southern Bell, South Central Bell, Bellsouth and finally AT&T.

He enjoyed farming and depended on his grandson Trevor. He loved being outside with his horses and cows, being a “supervisor”. He loved spending time with all his grandchildren and even during his dialysis, he never missed a game his great-grandchildren played. Wayne loved Vols football and Braves baseball. One of his fondest memories was traveling out west to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1987 and 1989 to the Frontier Days in a motor home. He also loved taking the grandchildren to the mountains where they had so many good times. However, most of all, he loved sticking around the house taking care of his family and homestead.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife: Shirley Ford McNeece of Mt. Pleasant; children: Shannon (Doug) Cline, Shawn (Terry) Brewer and Shane McNeece; grandchildren: Trent Scott, Trace Cline, Taylor Cline, Haley (Josh) Seiber, Trevor (Casey) Brewer, Tyler (Blair) Brewer and Brett Woodard; great-grandchildren: Carley Pugh, Hayden Pugh, Jaelynn Seiber, Kylie Brewer, Camryn Brewer and Journey Brewer; siblings: Jerry (Martha) McNeece, Larry (Peggy) McNeece, and Margaret (Howard) Norman all of Mt. Pleasant, and Jean (Don) Westmoreland of Columbia; sisters-in-law: Barbara McNeece and Betty Lou McNeece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Billy McNeece and Bruce McNeece.

Funeral services for Mr. McNeece will be held on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with burial following at Polk Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army. Randy McNeece and Andy Pogue will officiate the service. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, August 31, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Trent Scott, Trevor Brewer, Tyler Brewer, Trace Cline, Taylor Cline, Josh Seiber and Brett Woodard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Dugger, Horace Boshers, Jim Kyle, Butch Hughes, Grady Hayes, Mark Hayes, coffee drinking friends at Bypass Market and at McDonalds, Jimmy Curry, Frank Jones, Jesse Quirk, Robert Baker, Joe Holden, Charles Boyd, Jerry Bytwerk, Billy Combs, Jim Spears, Nicky Savage, Jimmy McClain, Doug Cline, Terry Brewer, Wayne Lindsey, John Willie Floyd, employees of Nance’s Body Shop and past and present employees of AT&T.
