Clara Earline Clemmons Stutts – Obituary

claraClara Earline Clemmons Stutts, a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home. She was born, March 20, 1926, to Emmitt and Mae Clemmons. She is preceeded in death by her beloved husband Mabron Hensley Stutts; Her parents; three brothers (Percy, Porter, and twin brother Early); and sister (Katherine Truitt).

Services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Greenhill Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. with Bro. Gregg Woodard officiating. Burial will be in Milner’s Chapel Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be at 10:30 am Thursday at the funeral home.

Hours spent quilting and crocheting produced countless keepsakes for her family. She spent 15+ years enjoying the Greenhill Senior Center, where she spent many hours enjoying delightful fellowship and games of Rook. Dominoes were her joy where she always amazed her family with her lightening fast totals. But her greatest joy came from watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Earline is survived by her son Reed (Patti) Stutts of Decatur, Alabama; One grandson LCDR Ike (Caroline) Stutts of Alexandria, VA; One granddaughter Jennie-Marie (Carlton) McMasters of Decatur, Alabama; 5 great grandchildren, Julianna Stutts, Emma Hensley McMasters, Mason Stutts, Mary-Reed McMasters, and Lily McMasters; Her brother James Clemmons; Sisters Willie T. Cody, Vergia Bradley, and Joyce Slatton; and Numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to offer thanksgiving for the special care and love shown by niece Janice Truitt Pettus and dear friend and neighbor Darlene Richards. Also special thanks to her caregivers at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Greenhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
