izzy+ announces consolidation of manufacturing operations; plant in Florence, Alabama, to close in summer of 2015

izzy+SPRING LAKE, MI – To harness greater efficiency in its manufacturing operations, izzy+ announced today that it will close its facility in Florence, Alabama, by the summer of 2015.

 

The current production at the Florence plant will be shifted to izzy+ existing facilities in Middlebury,izzy-florence-264x165 Indiana, and Spring Lake, Michigan, along with select suppliers. The consolidation will take approximately one year to complete.

 

“We are investing in a more nimble and focused izzy+,” said izzy+ President and CEO Kevin Kuske. “This requires a careful consolidation of our operations that allows us to be even more efficient and responsive in our commitment to provide our customers with world-class capabilities.”

Kuske added: “We regret the impact this decision has on the people of the Florence facility, because they have been an important and well-performing part of our izzy+ family. We will be doing everything possible to help them transition to other employment.”

 

Kuske said izzy+ plans to sell the Florence plant when the consolidation is complete. There are about 200 office and manufacturing workers at the facility. The company expects to add a yet-to-be-determined number of manufacturing and support positions at other izzy+ facilities.
