Auburn Fred Zills – Obituary

Funeral for Auburn Fred Zills, 87, of Town Creek will be today, July 23, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Zills and Don Randolph officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Zills, who died Monday, July 21, 2014, at NHC Healthcare, Moulton, was born December 4, 1926, in Lawrence County to John Bentley Zills and Johnnie Kelly Zills. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from December 7, 1943 – April 20, 1946 and was a retired machinist for NASA. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Vernon Zills, Ross Zills, Rayburn Zills and Bobby Zills; and one sister, Nina Randolph.

Survivors include his wife, Blanch Oliver Zills; four sons, Danny Zills (Brenda) and Anthony Zills (Linda), both of Hatton, Norman Zills of Athens and Ricky Zills (Janice) of Hatton; one daughter, Dianne Ashcraft (David) of Decatur; one sister, Sue Hallmark of Mount Hope; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
