Former Highland Park Baptist Church Secretary Indicted By Grand Jury

MUSCLE SHOALS-A Colbert County grand jury has indicted Deborah Mansell on one count 1st degree Theft and 20 counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.

Mansell is the former secretary for Highland Park Baptist Church located in Muscle Shoals.  She is accused of making over 2200 personal transactions on the church’s credit card from July 2011 until April 2014,  totaling around $129000.00.  The charges were discovered by a church audit, according to officials at which time the files were given to the Muscle shoals Police Department for further investigation.

Mansell was released from custody on Wednesday, July 16th on $25000.00 bond.

First-Degree theft of property is a Class B felony and carries a 2-20 year sentence if convicted and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card is a Class C felony and carries a 1-10 year sentence if convicted.
