Meth Lab Found In Trunk After Routine Traffic Stop….One Arrested

DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division made a routine traffic stop which resulted in the arrest of one man on several charges including Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance after finding what appeared to be a Meth Lab in the trunk of the auto.  Here is how the Decatur Police Department describe the arrest:

SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:

“On July 10, 2014, Officer Brian Prosser of the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division initiated a vehicle stop at the intersection of Sandlin Road and Everett Drive SW in reference to a vehicle failing to stop at a Stop Sign. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Stephen Morrissey. Morrissey had a suspended driver’s license and no proof of insurance. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located several items consistent with a Methamphetamine Laboratory in the trunk.

Investigator Kirk Arrington from the Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit and Crime Scene Technician Mike Neville responded to the scene. During the course of the investigation Officers located a Methamphetamine Laboratory, a quantity of Methamphetamine, drug use and manufacture paraphernalia and a firearm in the vehicle.

Inv. Arrington charged Morrissey with Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Morrissey was additionally charged with Carry of a Pistol without a Permit, Running a Stop Sign and Driving while Suspended.

Morrissey was processed into the Decatur City Jail and will later be transported to the Morgan County in Jail in lieu of a $11,500.00 total bond.”
