DECATUR-Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit made a routine traffic stop resulting in the arrest of one man for Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree. Here is how the Decatur Police describe the arrest:
SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
“On 07/02/2014 at approximately 1851hrs, members of the Decatur Police’s Anti-Crime Unit were on patrol near the intersection of 12th Ave. NW and W. Moulton St.
While Officer Reynolds andOfficer Macklin were travelling southbound on 12th Ave. NW, officers observed a black Ford Expedition turn northbound onto 12th Ave. NW from W. Moulton St. Officers observed that the driver nor the front seat passenger were wearing seatbelts.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the front seat passenger who was identifed as Dennis Wayne Turner Jr. During the course of the investigation, Turner was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana. Officers also observed Turner attempting to eat a quantity of empty plastic baggies.
Turner was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Officers transported Turner to the Decatur City Jail where he was processed in without incident.
Turner will later be transferred to the Morgon County Jail in lieu of a $3,000.00 bond.”
