Emil L. Schier – Obituary

Emil L. Schier, 98, of Scottsboro, passed away on Sunday. He was born and raised in Chicago, where he worked as a commercial artist. He proudly served his country during World War II as an army soldier in the South Pacific. He was an avid fisherman and woodworker. He and his wife moved to the Scottsboro area from Chicago after his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary, and his brother, Louis.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Alice Schier; daughter, Cathy Barnes and husband, Donald, of Huntsville, and grandchildren, Donny and Mary.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with Pastor Stephen Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro.
