• Athens Cruise-In
Saturday, June 7, 3-6 p.m., downtown Athens
Enjoy looking at antique vehicles and grab a meal or do some shopping downtown. Free event.
• Athens Saturday Market Opens
Saturday, June 7, 8 a.m. to noon, Farmers Market Pavilion
Opening day of the season. The Saturday Market will be open through the last Saturday in August. Fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, events, music and more.
• Bike MS: North Alabama
Saturday, June 7, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fitness Park
Will follow the Noah Bike Trail to raise money and awareness for research and support programs for those living in Alabama and Mississippi. Routes include 25, 45, 75 and 100 mile route options – supported with well-stocked rest stops every 8-12 miles, roaming mechanics, roaming medical support and roaming support and gear vehicles. • Spring Garden Tours
Saturday, June 7, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hosted by Friends of the Athens-Limestone County Public Library. The tour will feature traditional gardens in downtown Athens, three church prayer gardens, a country garden and four 21st Century landscaped gardens. Tickets are $20 and will be available until June 7 at Crawford’s on West Washington St.; Pablo’s on Market; Pimento’s and Trinity’s on The Square; and Athens-Limestone Public Library on South Street. • Gospel Talent Explosion
Saturday, June 7, 5-7 p.m., Limestone County Event Center

• Third annual Col. Sam Gibbons Tennessee Walking Horse Show

Free event, but donations accepted. Proceeds are going to the expansion project / building fund.

• Our Town Series
Tuesday, June 17, 1:30-2:30 p.m., Athens State Center for Lifelong Learning
Series of discussions by city leaders to help inform citizens about city government. This month’s speaker will be Grant Coordinator/Communications Specialist Holly Hollman talking about “A Social City” and the use of social media to keep the public informed. $5 (includes pie).
• Singing on The Square
Friday, June 20, 6-8 p.m., downtown Athens
Will feature artist Matt Prater. Free event. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Some downtown restaurants and businesses will be open.
• Refuse To Be A Victim Class
Tuesday, June 17, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Athens Police Department
Free class but must register by calling Capt. Trevor Harris at 256-233-8778. Learn about crime prevention and personal safety. 20 seats are available and adults of all ages are welcome. Two APD officers have been certified to teach this class. Topics include: Home and Workplace Safety, Personal Protection Devices, Travel Security, Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities.
• Athens Lions Club Kiddie Carnival
June 26 through Aug. 2 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 6:30-9:30 p.m. (closed on July 4), 309 E. Street.
10 rides for toddlers and small children to enjoy. Concessions including popcorn, Sno cones, cotton candy, funnel cakes, sandwiches and drinks. Older kids and adults can enjoy bingo. Rides require ticket purchases.
