SHEFFIELD-Helen Keller Hospital CEO, Doug Arnold, today announced his impending retirement to be effective October 1, 2014. Arnold has been CEO at Helen Keller Hospital since July of 2011. His career has spanned over 40 years in the healthcare industry with 28 years as a hospital CEO. “I am honored to have served this great community the past three years and to have worked with exceptional board members, staff, physicians and volunteers,” Arnold said.
Patrick Smith, Helen Keller Hospital board chairman, spoke highly of Arnold’s vision and leadership. “Doug has worked tirelessly to provide the highest possible level of patient care for the people of the Shoals. He has dedicated the last three years to ensuring that Helen Keller Hospital remained the premier provider of healthcare in Northwest Alabama.”
Current Helen Keller Hospital COO, Paul Storey, in accordance with the Colbert County – Northwest Alabama
Healthcare Authority’s succession plan, will assume Arnold’s responsibilities after a brief transition period.
With stints in both the not-for-profit and investor-owned arenas, Storey has spent his 22-year career in the Southern United States. Prior to his arrival at Keller in July of 2013, he spent seven years with Community Health System where he served as CEO of Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte, West Virginia. His career also includes time with Baptist Health System, Tenet Health Care, and Huntsville Hospital System.
Storey received his Bachelor of Science from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from University of Alabama Birmingham. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Storey will assume responsibility for all Helen Keller Hospital departments on July 1, 2014 and as CEO of all Colbert County-Northwest Alabama Healthcare Authority entities on October 1, 2014
