Two Arrested In Wal-Mart After Disturbance Call To Athens Police

DECATUR-Decatur Police were called to Wal-Mart on a disturbance  call.    Here is how the Decatur Police describe the events leading up to the arrest of two suspects:

“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST: 

On 5/23/14 at 11:57am, Decatur Police received a call of a disturbance at Wal-Mart.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the disturbance was a result of Wal-Mart Loss Prevention employees engaged in a struggle with a person who was being stopped for shoplifting.

Upon arrival, Officers took Krystal Elizabeth Mcanelly of Cullman into custody.

As Mcanelly was attempting to leave the store with merchandise that was not paid for, she shoved Loss Prevention employee Marcus Sanders and attempted to run out of the store. A struggle ensued, in which McAnelly’s boyfriend (Danny Kelso) attacked Sanders to assist in her getaway.

Another Loss Prevention employees was able to get Kelso off of Sanders. Mcanelly continued to resist, pulling out a can of Pepper Gas (Mace) and spraying Saunders in the face, blinding him.

Kelso fled after the other LP officer went to assist Saunders. Mcanelly was taken into custody.

After a brief search of the parking lot, Ofcs Pepper and Birgans located Kelso hiding in the backseat of his car.

Danny Wayne Kelso, 2/12/1981 and Krystal Elizabeth Mcanelly 3/14/90 both of 1322 4th St SE Cullman were brought to city hall and subsequently charged with Robbery in the Second Degree. They have been transferred to the Morgan Co Jail in lieu of a $5,000.00 bond each.”
