Decatur Police Arrest Two On Drug Charges

ADECATUR-The Decatur Police Department’s Special Operations Division, along with the Criminal Investigation Division and the Patrol Division executed a narcotics search warrant.   Here is how events played out in the words of the Decatur Police:

“On 5/15/2014, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Special Operations Division, Criminal Investigation Division and Patrol Division executed a narcotics search warrant at 511 14th Ave. NW Decatur, AL.

During execution of the warrant, two males were detained inside the residence. They were identified as Anthony Jerome Sykes and Randy Lee Jennings. After the residence was secured, investigators began their search.

During the search of the residence, investigators located a quantity of crack cocaine, prescription pills and large amount of U.S. currency. BSykes was found to be in possession of the crack cocaine and prescription pills. It was determined that Sykes did not have a valid prescription for the pills that were located.

Sykes was arrested for two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. Jennings was arrested for Loitering in a drug house. Both Sykes and Jennings were taken to Decatur City Jail and booked in.

Sykes was later transferred to Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $5,000.00 bond.

Jennings was allowed to make bond once his $500.00 bond was satisfied.

The currency located in Sykes’ residence was seized by investigators pending condemnation proceedings.”
